Quilts are a work of art and an investment. Taking the time to care for them properly is well worth the effort.
Our quilts are 100 percent cotton. Since quilts are layered and held together with stitches, take extra care when washing them; however, dry-cleaning is safer and better.
Machine Washing Instructions
Wash your quilt on a gentle cycle, using mild detergent, in cold water to prevent shrinkage and bleeding of colors. If the quilt has dark colors with light colors, it should be properly dry-cleaned to prevent the colors from bleeding. You may dry your quilt on a low or air setting in your clothes drier.
Quilt Maintenance
Keep your quilt free of accumulated lint, hair, and dust by gently vacuuming. Place a nylon stocking over the nozzle and then gently vacuum in two directions.
Storing Your Quilt
If you are storing your quilt, it should be rolled instead of folded to prevent permanent creases. Never store a quilt in plastic. Instead, store it in a sheet or pillow case that allows air to circulate around it, and be sure it is protected from insect damage.
Placement of Your Quilt
It is best to use or hang your quilt away from sunlight. The sun fades fabrics and breaks down the fibers. If you are hanging your quilt, rods and hangers help support the quilt evenly and prevent sagging.
