- This barnwood is grayed from 100 years of winter storms and sun.

- The grain is open and rough.

- Sometimes yellow or rust algae resides dormant on the wood.

- Knot holes are irregular and are not filled with putty.

- Each side is assembled with two pieces of wood.

- The wider, inner piece shows more of the grain of the wood.

- The outer strip forms a border and finishes off the edge.

- All wood picture frames are very light to medium light gray.

Our barnwood picture frames come from a prairie barn made in 1909. The wood is carefully removed. Only the siding is used for picture frames. The interior beams can be made into furniture. None of our barnwood picture frames have paint on them. Here you can see a video of old barns across America.

Each wood picture frame comes with glass (or plexiglass if any side is greater than 14 inches) and a back. Glass larger than 14 inches breaks too easily in shipping and becomes too heavy.

Coming from the northern prairies of Montana, Fred has been working with wood for almost 20 years. Building fine furniture on the side, he is removing wood from his grandfather's barn to build these barnwood picture frames. Living on the original homestead, this is a part of his heritage which is being shared with you.
